Can't Create a Character

If you're having trouble creating a character, try these troubleshooting steps.

Common Issues

Restricted Character Names

Certain keywords cannot be used in character names to prevent impersonation or confusion with official platform names. Character names cannot contain any of the following words (case-insensitive, checked anywhere in the name):

"masquerading" - Reserved for official platform use (also blocks "masquerade")
"admin" - Reserved to prevent impersonation of administrators
"support" - Reserved for official support team
"moderator" - Reserved to prevent impersonation of moderators
"staff" - Reserved to prevent impersonation of staff members
"system" - Reserved for system-level accounts

If your character name contains any of these keywords anywhere in the name, character creation will fail. Try a different name that doesn't include these restricted words.

Examples of Blocked Names:

❌ "Admin King" - Contains "admin"
❌ "The Administrator" - Contains "admin"
❌ "The Masquerading Hero" - Contains "masquerading"
❌ "Support Character" - Contains "support"
❌ "Staff Member" - Contains "staff"
❌ "System Override" - Contains "system"

Examples of Allowed Names:

✅ "The Masked Hero" - No restricted words
✅ "King of Heroes" - No restricted words
✅ "Shadow Walker" - No restricted words

Subscription Status

Check your subscription:

Ensure you have an active subscription (Guest Pass, Monthly, or Annual)
If your Guest Pass expired, you'll need to upgrade to continue creating characters
Check for subscription banners indicating issues with your account

Form Validation

Ensure you've filled out all required fields:

Character name: Required, must not contain restricted keywords
Tagline: May be required
Avatar: Upload a photo or generate one with AI

Browser Issues

Try these technical steps:

Refresh the page and try again
Clear your browser cache and cookies
Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge)
Disable browser extensions temporarily
Check your internet connection

AI Avatar Generation Issues

If AI avatar generation fails:

Check if you've reached your daily limit (5 per day)
Try again later if limit reached
Use manual character creation instead
